Florida swept the Mountain Dew Invitational team titles for the first time since 2012
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the second time in as many meets this season, the Florida cross country program swept the men's and women's team titles, with its latest dual victory coming at Saturday's (Sep. 24) Mountain Dew Invitational at Mark Bostick Golf Course.
Florida's men and women both won by decisive margins to achieve the program's first sweep of the MDI since 2012.
UF's women posted a 44-point margin of victory en route to its third consecutive and 11th all-time MDI title since the meet was renamed in 2005. On the men's side, the Gators won by 27 points to capture its first MDI victory since 2013 and ninth MDI crown since 2005.
Freshman Jessica Pascoe led the women, earning a runner-up finish in 17:11.24—which was 10 seconds faster than redshirt junior Becky Greene's top Division I time from last year's MDI. Senior Taylor Tubbs was another one of the four Gators who cracked the Division I top 10, crossing in fourth place.
Tubbs joined Gator Great Genevieve LaCaze as the only other runner in school history with three top-five overall finishes at the MDI.
For the men, Carlos Miranda improved on his time at last year's MDI by roughly 39 seconds to lead all Division I runners on Saturday. Freshman Colin Schaefer (third), sophomore Magnus Pettersen (fourth), and Mac Reynolds (fifth) rounded out Florida's quartet of top-five Division I finishers.
Florida will compete again next Saturday (Oct. 1) at the Paul Short Run in Lehigh, Pa.
