
Five Gators in Top 100 College Prospects

Baseball America released its list of 2017 College Top 100 Draft Prospects and five Florida baseball players were included on the list, with four earning spots in the Top 30.
Florida and North Carolina led all schools with five players each in the Top 100. The Gators four players in the Top 30 are two more than any other school.
For the second year in a row, a Gators pitcher tops the list. Junior right-hander Alex Faedo sits atop the list after a breakout sophomore year in which he led the Southeastern Conference in wins (13) and strikeouts (133). He also had a standout summer with the Team USA Collegiate National Team.
Last year, left-handed pitcher A.J. Puk ranked No. 1 on the list. Puk was drafted No. 6 overall in the 2016 MLB Draft in June.

Schwarz earned All-America honors for the second straight year after leading the team with 60 RBI last season. He batted .290 with seven home runs and 15 doubles. In just two years, he has totaled 25 home runs and 133 RBI with a .311 career batting average. Schwarz will play catcher, first base and designated hitter for the Gators in the spring.

1. RHP Alex Faedo, Junior
Faedo earned multiple All-America honors in 2016 after leading the Southeastern Conference in wins (13) and strikeouts (133). He posted a 13-3 record on the year and has a career record of 19-4 (.826 – best win percentage in school history). Fadeo's 133 strikeouts on the season ranked fourth in school history and his strikeout rate of 11.44 per nine innings was 10th best in school history. Faedo starred for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team last summer and will anchor the Gators' weekend rotation heading into the 2017 season.15. C/DH JJ Schwarz, Junior

18. SS Dalton Guthrie, Junior
Guthrie was a Second Team All-SEC pick in 2016 and was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team at shortstop. He served as the Gators' primary leadoff hitter and batted .305 with 47 runs scored. He led the SEC with 279 at bats last season and was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the second straight year.28. C Mike Rivera, Junior
In 2016, Rivera was named Second Team All-SEC and earned SEC All-Defensive Team honors after posting a .994 fielding percentage in 490 chances. He threw out 16 of 31 base stealers and picked off six additional runners. At the plate, he batted .245 and ranked second on the team with nine home runs.90. 2B Deacon Liput, Sophomore
Although just a sophomore, Liput is old enough to be eligible for the 2017 MLB Draft. Last year as a freshman, he was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team after batting .270 with 39 runs scored and 36 RBI. He also had four triples, seventh-most in the SEC, 34 walks and 13 stolen bases.
