GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida's total of 24 on the 2016 Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll is the league's all-time high for women's soccer.
The 2016 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2016 spring, summer and fall terms. The list was announced today by league commissioner Greg Sankey.
The Gator soccer team, which won the SEC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Round of 16, placed 24 on the team. The previous high of 23 was turned in by South Carolina in 2015.
Two among the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll earned spots on their second consecutive College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America teams in 2016 – soccer players Savannah Jordan and Betsy Middleton. Both graduated in December, with Middleton receiving highest honors after completing her academic career with a 4.0 grade point average.
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
