The men switched springboards today, diving off the 3-meter. Samuel Smith earned a 675.05 score to place 16th in the finals, having finished 18th in the prelims with a 324.75 score. Dylan Power placed 22nd with a 311.60 score, and Dalton Goss finished 27th with a 273.45 score.
Zone B will wrap up tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET with platform. As automatic qualifiers on the springboards, Madden and Smith only need to place in the top 12 to compete on the towers at NCAAs. The top seven women and top nine men on platform in zone B automatically qualify.
Live results are available on divemeets.com, and results will also be updated throughout the day on Twitter at @GatorsSwimDv and posted in full on FloridaGators.com.
ABOUT NCAA DIVING ZONES
Similar to the Last Chance Meet a week ago, diving zones are the lone opportunity for divers to score NCAA-qualifying marks on 1-meter, 3-meter and platform. At minimum in each zone, the top four male and top five female divers for each event automatically advance to NCAAs, while at-large finishers will fill the remaining spots.
The NCAA will release its final list of divers selected to compete in the national championships on March 12 with the conclusion of all five zone meets.
The Zone B Championships feature Florida, along with Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, FIU, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Miami (FL), North Carolina, North Carolina State, UNC-Wilmington, South Carolina and Tennessee.
