The rookie sensation from Rochester, Minn., posted a combined singles and doubles record of 3-0 and helped the Gators remain in a tie atop the SEC standings entering the final weekend.
Notes and Highlights:
- Neel played the No. 2 singles position in both matches and won both. Her win against Ole Miss's No. 95th-ranked Natalie Suk was a three-setter that clinched the dual match victory for UF. Against Mississippi State's Lisa Marie Rioux, Neel was forced to break Rioux in the final game of the second set to force a tiebreak, which she did. Then Neel staved off five set points before she capitalized on her third match point to take the 6-1, 7-6 (14-12) straight-set decision.
- On the doubles court, she and her partner Anna Danilina played the No. 1 position for both matches. They have played the top spot in one prior match, but it was abandoned. Against Ole Miss, they clinched the doubles point and were on-serve with MSU's fifth-ranked team of Lee and Rioux when play was halted.
- The rookie is now 16-4 overall in singles action – 13-3 in dual match play (9 at the No. 2 spot), including 6-2 in SEC matches - this year, having joined the team in January.
- On the doubles court, Neel is 14-2 in dual matches, including 8-1 in SEC play with two of those coming at the No. 1 position.
