Gators To Host Ospreys In Midweek Contest

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida softball team returns to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for a five-game home stand that starts with a midweek matchup against in-state foe North Florida Wednesday, April 5, at 6 p.m.
The Gators (33-2, 10-1 SEC) come off a 4-0 week where the team dispatched Bethune-Cookman 15-7 in five innings and their second SEC three-game series sweep of the season over then-ranked No. 24 Arkansas in Fayetteville. Florida won the three-game series 6-1, 8-0 (5) and 6-1 over the Razorbacks.
Freshman Jordan Roberts picked up her first-ever SEC Freshman of the Week honor after she posted a .545 batting average that included 10 RBI and a pair of home runs. Roberts now has 10 multi-RBI games on the season, which leads the team.

All-Time Series
Florida has met with the Ospreys a total of six times all of which were in Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. UF has dominated the series with a 6-0 record with the largest margin of victory being a 22-0 rout during a double header in 2010.
UNF has never defeated UF. Their last meeting in 2015 lasted eight innings and resulted in a close 2-1 victory for the Gators.

The No. 3-ranked University of Florida softball team defeated in-state rival UNF by a 2-1 score in eight innings on Wednesday night at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. Lauren Haeger earned the win on the night of being drafted by the Dallas Charge of National Pro Fastpitch.
Haeger and Delanie Gourley pitched a combined perfect game for 6.1 innings before the Ospreys tied the game with a solo home run to right field. Janell Wheaton won the game in the eighth inning of play with a walk-off double.
Notes (4/1/15):
• Wheaton recorded the first game-winning RBI of her career
• Wednesday's game marked Florida's 200th all-time contest against in-state opponents. The Gators now are 157-43 (.785) versus Sunshine State foes.
• UF improved to 28-0 in nonconference games in 2015. Florida has won 34 consecutive games against non-SEC foes dating back to last season.

- Sophomore Amanda Lorenz entering the game with a 35-game reached base streak on the line. Lorenz ended the 2016 season on an 18-game streak.
- The Gators rank inside the top 10 of five national statistical categories entering this week: ERA (0.74 – 1st), fielding percentage (0.986 – 1st), on base percentage (0.455 – 3rd), win-loss percentage (0.943 – 4th) and scoring (7.00 – 6th)
- A trio of Gators lead the nation in five different statistical categories:
- Kelly Barnhill – ERA (0.26) & strikeouts per seven innings (13.1)
- Delanie Gourley – hits allowed per seven innings (2.54)
- Kayli Kvistad – on base percentage (0.628) & walks (1.23 per game)
- Barnhill is the nation's leader with a 0.26 ERA but Gourley (0.81 – 8th) & Aleshia Ocasio (0.82 – 9th) both rank inside the top 10. Florida is the only school in the country to have three pitchers ranked inside the Top 10 in ERA. Florida State and Arizona each have two pitchers ranked inside the top 10.

Osprey Notables
- This past weekend UNF played FGCU in a three game series. The Ospreys went 2-1 on the weekend. The first game they won 2-0, game two they won 6-4 and game three they lost 2-5. This series kicked off conference play for them.
- Navia Pendrod is the team and ASUN leading batter with a batting average of .458, 131 at bats, 36 runs, 60 hits and a pair of homeruns.
- Dominica Cocuzza earned the Weekly ASUN Award towards the end of March. She garnered the award after she led the team to an undefeated week with at least one hit in all seven games, a batting average of .500, six runs scored and 10 RBIs.
- Logan Green is the team's leading pitcher. She has a 2.22 earned run average and a 9-10 record. In game one of the series last weekend against FGCU, Green pitched seven innings, allowed four hits and had two strikeouts. She came in as relief in game two and also pitched the final game. She pitched seven innings, allowed nine hits and five runs and had four strikeouts.
- Navia Pendrod and Kayla McGory rank first and second in the conference for fielding double plays. Pendrod has 16 and McGory has 12.
