GAINESVILLE, Fla – The US Open Swimming Championships are set to begin Wednesday and Florida boasts 33 current, incoming or former competitors in the field.
The Championships will take place over the course of five days at the Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, N.Y. At least one Gator will be swimming in 33 of the 34 events taking place, with the women's 100m butterfly being the lone event without a Florida swimmer.
The men's team has 21 competitors in the field, with all but two swimmers listed on the 2017-18 roster for this upcoming season. The swimmers include Brennan Balogh, Andrew Brady, Chandler Bray, Drew Clark, Taylor Delk, Grady Heath, Ben Kennedy, Ben Lawless, Alex Lebed, Dakota Mahaffey, Bayley Main, Ross Palazzo, Maxime Rooney, Tyler Silver and Viktor Toth.
Swimming alongside them are newcomers Clark and Ethan Beach, John Fulginiti and Grant Sanders.
The two Gator alums making their way into the pool are Ryan Lochte and Mitch D'Arrigo. This is Lochte's first return to formal competition after the 2016 Rio Olympics.
