Florida opens tournament play Friday versus Washington and meets Portland on Sunday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida soccer team brings its new No. 2 ranking to the Nike/Husky Invitational. This is the farthest northwest trip in the program's 23-year history.
For the second consecutive Friday, the Gators face a Pac-12 Conference opponent when it meets tournament host Washington at the Husky Soccer Stadium. Florida finishes tournament play on Sunday versus West Coast Conference member Portland.

In Last Weekend's Home Action:
In last weekend's home action, Florida came back twice and then took the lead in the 82nd minute to upset then No. T-1 Stanford 3-2 at the Dizney Stadium. Florida tied the match in the 40th minute off the first goal of the season for junior Samantha Chung and again when Gabby Seiler headed in her third score of the season at 78:32. Junior transfer Laís Araujo's first Gator goal, a six-yard curling shot scoring at the far post, gave Florida the game-winner in the 82nd minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Susi Espinoza's 90th minute stop on a shot by Stanford's top scorer Catarina Macario gave the Gators their first win in the six-match series with SU.
The Gators moved to 4-0 for the first time since 2010 with a 2-1 home win over Syracuse on Sunday. Seiler scored a penalty kick in the eighth minute for her fourth consecutive match with a goal. The match was tied at halftime. Parker Roberts scored the game-winner in the 57th minute off assists from Briana Solis and Sarah Troccoli. Roberts has scored in both Sunday matches in her first season with the Gators.
Shout-Outs for Seiler
After pushing out her consecutive scoring stretch to four matches, Seiler was named the Top Drawer Soccer National Player and the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
It was her second SEC Offensive Player of Week honor of her career, as she shared the Aug. 25, 2014 honor with Florida's Jillian Graff during her sophomore year at Georgia.
Florida Moves to No. 2
Florida advanced to No. 2 – its highest position on the United Soccer Coaches poll since 1999.
Five of the top six teams in the Aug. 22 United Soccer Coaches top-25 were upset in road action last weekend. Florida was No. 8 in the Aug. 22 United Soccer Coaches poll.
This brought a change in every position in the Aug. 29 top 10. Eight teams staying among the current top 10 and two teams (No. 8 Clemson, No. 10 Georgetown) moved up to join the top 10.
About the Nike/Husky Invitational Opponents:
Washington opened the season with three consecutive road matches (2-0 loss at Michigan, 4-0 win at Michigan State, 2-1 win at Illinois) and opened home action Sunday with a 2-1 loss to Southern Methodist. Senior Shannon Simon leads the Huskies with five points (2 goals, 1 assist).
Portland is 2-2 this season. The Pilots started with two home matches (2-1 win-Portland State; 1-0 loss-NC State) before two road matches (1-0 win-UC Davis; 3-0 loss-UC Irvine). Hannah Griffiths Boston leads the Pilots with four points off of two goals.
Stanford opened the 2017 season with a pair of high-scoring road wins in Milwaukee. The Cardinal started with a 4-0 win over Marquette and then defeated Wisconsin 5-0 on Sunday. Catarina Macario and Kyra Carusa lead SU with three goals each.
