Gators Challenge ACC in Puerto Rico
Friday, September 1, 2017 | Volleyball
Florida is chasing a third top-20 win in its first two weeks, something only NCAA champion Stanford accomplished last year
The Gators, who climbed nine spots to reach No. 3 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll, are just the fourth team since 1996 to open the season with consecutive wins over top-five opponents. Two of the other three (2007 Penn State, 2003 USC) won the national title, and the 2005 Nebraska squad was the NCAA runner-up.

A look back at Friday's match vs. Texas ???? pic.twitter.com/dThzRBAynN
Florida was one of two teams in the nation to defeat two ranked opponents last week, with UCLA being the other.
The Gators face yet another this weekend, as a matchup against No. 16 North Carolina follows their clash with N.C. State. Only one team in the nation amassed three wins over top-20 opponents the first two weeks of last season: Stanford, which won the NCAA title.
FloVolleyball will stream both matches (paid subscription required), while audio streams with longtime play-by-play man Tom Collett and Josh Crow will be available for free via FloridaGators.com. Sunday's match will also be broadcast on the radio via ESPN Gainesville 98.1 FM / 850 AM.
