Four of six Gators notched singles victories on the opening day of competition

Newport, RI/Cary, NC – Four of six Gators notched singles victories on the opening day of competition, which was played at the Hall of Fame/ITA Grass Court Invitational in Newport, RI, and the Duke Bonk Invite in Cary, NC.

Anna Danilina and Josie Kuhlman won their respective first-round matches at the Hall of Fame/ITA Grass Court Invitational, while Brooke Austin and freshman Victoria Emma posted wins at the Duke Bonk Invite.

Kuhlman was the lone Gator who squared off against a ranked opponent and she captured the hard-fought 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3) victory over LSU's No. 64-ranked Ryann Foster.

Both three-day events are individual singles and doubles tournaments.
