Stanford and Vanderbilt sit above Florida in the preseason national team ranking.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – 2017 NCAA Champion Florida opens the 2017-18 season ranked No. 3 in the Oracle/ITA Division I Preseason Rankings that was released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday.
Seniors Anna Danilina and Josie Kuhlman are the Gators' top two returners from last year's national championship squad that featured three graduating seniors in Belinda Woolcock, Kourtney Keegan and Spencer Liang, as well as freshman Ingrid Neel, who turned pro following the season.
Florida's first action of the 2018 spring season is an individual event, January 12-15, when a number of players will compete in the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas.
Focus then turns squarely on dual match competition, which gets underway at home on January 27, when Florida plays host to the two-day ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Louisiana-Monroe, Marshall and Cal State Fullerton travel to Gainesville to compete for the right to advance to the ITA Division I National Women's Team Indoor Championship, hosted by Wisconsin, Feb. 9-12.
