Gators Travel to Oxford Sunday (3 p.m. ET)

The home team in this series has not successfully defended its court since the 2011-12 season.
OXFORD, Miss. – Florida hits the road for its third true away game of the season, playing at Ole Miss on Sunday in Oxford, where tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT.

The Gators are 1-1 on hostile courts this season, defeating Oklahoma and falling at Auburn. The team also played three games at a neutral site, sporting a 2-1 record.

Sunday's game will be the first of two regular-season meetings between Florida and Ole Miss, which will play again in 14 days (Jan. 21) in Gainesville.

Gators vs. Rebels: The Series
  • 36-Game Series: UF leads 20-16 (UF Home: 8-10; Away: 12-5; Neutral: 0-1)
  • Streak: Ole Miss won last year's game in Gainesville, 84-75
  • Quirky Streak: The last five meetings have been won by the visiting team. The last time the home team won in the series was during the 2011-12 season, when the teams played twice and both won on their respective home courts.
  • Florida's last win vs. Ole Miss: Jan. 10, 2016 - 85-65 in Oxford in the first women's game played at The Pavilion at Ole Miss

Common Opponents
  • Florida and Ole Miss shared two common non-conference opponents: Arkansas State and Delaware State.
  • The Gators went 1-1 against those teams, falling to Arkansas State, 70-69, and defeating Delaware State, 85-51.
  • The Rebels defeated both, posting a 110-58 win vs. DSU and a 74-48 victory against ASU.

Twice the SEC Fun
  • During the 2017-18 season's 16-game SEC schedule, the Gators will play Georgia (their 'permanent' rival), Ole Miss and 2017 NCAA national-runner-up Mississippi State twice.

"Chuck it from the Cheap Seats!"
  • The Gators are listening to Coach Cam Newbauer's approach to shooting and has told every member of the team to "chuck it from the cheap seats!" (Coach is a HUGE movie guy and the quote is from "Hoosiers")
  • The Gators reset the program record for threes in a game twice already. The new standard stands at 17 after the Nov. 23 performance against Savannah State.
  • The team canned 15 three-pointers vs. Richmond (11/21/17) to first break the program record for threes in a game, which was 13 at Arkansas, Feb. 1, 2009.
  • Four of the top five single-game records for threes have come under Cam.

Gators for THREEEEEE!
  • Entering Sunday's game, the Gators are averaging 9.5 three-pointers per game and converting at a 34.7 percent clip.
  • Thru games played Jan. 4, UF ranks tied-No. 18 in the country in threes per game; and No. 11 in total three-pointers made (143).
  • Florida has converted double-digit threes in SEVEN games this year, most recently 10 vs. Alabama (Jan. 4).
  • It took just six games for TEN of the 11 players on the scholarship roster to hit at least one trey this season. Only freshman guard Tameria Johnson has yet to have one fall from deep.

What Else do the Gators do well?
  • Aside from hitting the three at an SEC-leading rate (all games), Florida does not get fouled. The Gators rank No. 2 in the country in staying out of foul trouble, being whistled for just 12.5 fouls per game.
  • Through the first 15 games, not one Gator has fouled out this season.

A Peek at the Rebels
  • Ole Miss ranks No. 10 in the country for free throw attempts, No. 19 for blocked shots and No. 24 for made free throws.
  • In the last two meetings between Ole Miss and Florida, Madinah Muhammad (who is averaging 18.5 points this season) has feasted on the Gators, averaging 18.5 points and connecting on 7-of-10 from the three-point arc. Alissa Alston (15.6 ppg this year) has totaled 30 points in the last two games against UF.
  • As a team, the Rebels hit 19-of-43 (44.2 percent) from deep during the last two meetings.

What Just Happened
  • Florida's offense in the final 5:21 of Thursday's game matched the frigid temperatures outside, as the Gators missed their final nine shots and dropped a 63-54 home decision to Alabama.
  • The Crimson Tide outscored the Gators, 11-0, to end the game after Florida had erased a third quarter, double-digit deficit and took the lead.
  • The Gators dished 16 assists with 20 made field goals.
  • UF recorded its seventh game this season with double-digit three-pointers, connecting on 10-of-28 against Alabama.
  • It was Florida's sixth game this season decided by 10 points or less (3-3 record in those games).
  • UF's 26 first-half points was tied for the fewest this season (also 26 vs. Florida State, Nov. 17)
