COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In the cross country squads' regular season finale, Florida will travel to College Station, Texas, for the inaugural Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday.
The Florida women have made strides through the first two meets of the 2018 season. The squad captured their 13th overall (fifth consecutive) Mountain Dew Invitational title, two weeks ago. With her first place finish, she became the third women in school history to earn three top-5 finishes at the Mountain Dew Invitational and helped Florida's women win their fifth consecutive title at the home meet.
Junior Jessica Pascoe paced the Gators over that stretch with back-to-back top-place finishes. Pascoe became the third women in school history to earn three top-5 finishes at the Mountain Dew Invitational and leads the SEC in 5k times.
Elisabeth Bergh and Caitlin McQuilkin-Bell have recorded two top-5 finishes, while Morgan Hull, Imogen Barrett and Grace Blair have posted top-20 finishes this season. The women will compete in their first 6k of the season, in preparation for the SEC Championships.
The men will run in their second 8k race of the season and look to build off the progress that they made at the Mountain Dew Invitational.
Redshirt sophomore Colin Schaefer tallied the fastest 8k time for the Gators this season and helped propel Florida to a third place finish at the home meet two weeks ago. His personal record of 24:29.96 was good for a fourth place finish, the only top-10 finish for the Gators.
Nick Deal, Jesse Millson and Justin Pacifico all logged personal records at the last meet. Deal, Millson, and Pacifico joined redshirt juniors Jack Guyton and Magnus Pettersen in the top-25 for the Gators.
Following the Arturo Barrios Invitational, Florida will prepare for the SEC Championships in Auburn, Ala. on Oct. 26.
