Gators Finish Fourth at Betsy Rawls Invitational
Sunday, October 21, 2018 | Women's Golf
AUSTIN, Texas – The Florida women's golf team finished their fall season with their fourth finish inside the top five. Two gators, sophomore Elin Esborn and Marta Perez, finished inside the top 10 individually.
Bogeys haunted the gators in the final round, as each player had at least two on their final day. The team was still able to finish inside the top five with three individuals inside the top 15. Freshman Clara Manzalini finished close behind Esborn's T7 and Perez's T10, carding an even par for her final round to put her T14.
Coach's Take
"Not our best week of the way we envisioned finishing the fall but in all honesty, probably a blessing in disguise. A good reminder for the whole group on the work that needs to be put in if we want to be a championship contender in the spring. We had moments this week that were really special, we definitely have the fire power. We just made too many mistakes and every time we gained some momentum we would give it back. Too many mistakes to hang with a team like Texas on their home course.
Overall this fall, we have a lot to be proud of and I think we know this team is capable. The discipline that we show in the offseason will be the turning point for us." – Head Coach Emily Glaser
