Second-place Florida takes on 13th-place Mississippi State on Sunday
Match Notes
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The No. 13 Florida Gators head to Starkville, Miss. to take on Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT.
Florida currently sits second in the league with a 9-1 record, while the Bulldogs are 13th with a league record of 1-9.
UF is ranked seventh nationally in blocks per set (2.87) and 16th in opponent hitting percentage (.156).
In the SEC, the Gators are first in blocks per set with 2.87, and second in both hitting efficiency (.264) and opponent hitting percentage (.156).
Florida holds the 50-0 series advantage over Mississippi State, including a 40-0 record under head coach Mary Wise.
The Gators won the last meeting, 3-0, on Sept. 23, 2018 in Gainesville, Fla. UF took the first set, 25-12, followed by a 25-21 win in the second set. The Gators then secured the match victory with a 25-14 win in the final set.
Paige Hammons led the Gators offensively, posting a career-high kills and no errors with a .550 hit clip. Taelor Kellum and Mia Sokolowski both pitched in eight kills of their own in the match.
The Monserezs combined for 30 of the team's 36 assists, with Allie Monserez dishing out 16 and Marlie Monserez handing out 14.
Allie Gregory had a great match from behind the service line, notching three service aces to pair with her 11 digs, while Rachael Kramer posted six blocks at the net.
If the Gators defeat the Bulldogs, they have achieved at least 10 conference wins in each of the 28 seasons under Mary Wise.
