Gators move back into USTFCCCA Top 25, Ranked No. 21
Tuesday, October 30, 2018 | Cross Country
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators surprised the SEC on Friday with their runner-up finish at the conference championships, posting four top-20 finishes and sub-20-minute times.
The USTFCCCA released the NCAA DI Cross Country National Coaches Poll and were impressed with the progression throughout the season and the performances at the SEC Championships, as Florida is now ranked No. 21 heading into NCAA Regionals. The Gators started receiving votes after their team title in College Station three weeks ago, but Florida last appeared in the Top 25 in late October of 2012.
For the first time in school history, the Florida women have also assumed the top spot in the NCAA South Regional. The Gators started the season ranked 14th in the region and have slowly worked their way to the top. They made their biggest jump after the Arturo Barrios Invitational at Texas A&M, moving up seven spots to No. 4. They took over the No. 1 spot after beating previously top-ranked Georgia at the SEC Championships.
They will take the No. 1 ranking into the NCAA South Regional competition on Nov. 9.
Here's a look at the polls.
