Blue Edges Orange to Win Orange & Blue Series

The Blue team edged the Orange squad 7-5 on Friday evening to win the annual Orange & Blue Series title.
To conclude fall ball, Florida will travel to Port Charlotte on Sunday to face Team USA's 18U National Team at 3:30 p.m. at Charlotte Sports Park.
For the Blue side, sophomore Brady Smith hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning that evened the score and the Blue team used a four-run fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead.
After the Orange team pulled within two, freshman David Luethje pitched a 1-2-3 final inning to close out the game.
The Orange team jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first three innings. A sac fly from Cal Greenfield opened the scoring in the second inning. Blake Reese made it 2-0 with a RBI single in the third and Austin Langworthy's RBI groundout added another run.
The Blue team rallied with two outs in the fourth inning as Wil Dalton and Kirby McMullen drew back-to-back walks before Smith's blast to left field.
In the fifth, RBI singles from Nelson Maldonado and McMullen gave the Blue team a 7-3 lead.
On the mound, transfer Justin Alintoff started and pitched two shutout innings for the Orange side. Freshmen Kris Armstrong, Ben Specht and Hunter Ruth each pitched scoreless innings in relief for the Orange team.
McMullen started on the mound for the Blue team and pitched a scoreless inning. Transfer Deven Hemenway allowed one run over two innings and sophomore Colton Gordon allowed an unearned run in 2.1 innings before Luethje closed it out.
