GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A pair of collegiate best marks helped Florida's
Megan Skaggs claim the latest Southeastern Conference Freshman Gymnast of the Week honor.
Florida has the largest array of SEC Freshman of the Week honorees, as Skaggs is the third Gator to claim the award in 2018.
Jazmyn Foberg claimed the season's first honor and
Alyssa Baumann is a two-time recipient (Week 4 and Week 6).
CollegeGymFans.com ranked Florida's freshman class No. 1 for the 2018 season.
Two other Gators have picked up SEC weekly honors in 2018 –
Alex McMurtry (Week 4 SEC Gymnast of the Week) and
Kennedy Baker (Week 6 SEC Specialist of the Week).
SKAGGS'S PERFORMANCE:
- Turned in collegiate bests of 9.90 for both events competed versus Arkansas – uneven bars and balance beam. Both marks shared third overall.
- Skaggs has been in the last four bars lineups, all with marks of 9.8 or better.
- She returned to the beam lineup for the Gators Link to Pink meet versus Arkansas. It was her fourth beam performance, all with 9.80 or better. Also had a 9.90 on beam versus Oklahoma.
