AUBURN, Ala. -- The Gators remain in seventh place at the Evans Derby Experience after 36 holes of play.
Florida shot 1-over on Monday bettering Sunday's round by three strokes. The score of 289 put them one stroke closer to Auburn and South Carolina who sit in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
The Gators were anchored again by Sierra Brooks and Marta Perez who both went sub par on the second day. Brooks had just one bogey on No. 7 while sinking three birdies for her second consecutive 70 (-2) of the week. Her round helped her move up three spots and is tied for sixth entering the final day of the event.
She is joined in the top 20 by Perez who carded a 71 (-1) and is tied for 18th. She bumped up four spots on the leaderboard and is 1-under for the tournament heading into the final round.
Freshman Addie Baggarly shaved three strokes off her first round score posting a 1-over, 73. Baggarly was bogey-free through the first 12 holes on Monday before a pair of bogeys on No. 3 and No. 4 put her back above par.
Baggarly is now tied fir 40th with Alabama's Lakareber Abe after finishing day one tied for 46th.
The final round of play is scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start with the Gators starting on holes 7 to 11. Florida is paired with Auburn, South Carolina and Louisville.
Coach's Take:
On feelings after day two -- "We didn't play poorly today but, we weren't able to take advantage of a scoreable golf course. We had some momentum early but, couldn't sustain it and need to do a better job of finishing instead of protecting. Finishing well tomorrow would mean a lot to this team and I'm looking forward to watching how we respond to the challenge." -- Coach Emily Glaser
