Florida shoots 3-under par to jump one spot on leaderboard
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators shot 3-under par on the final day of the Evans Derby Experience to tie for sixth in the event.
Florida would post a three round total of 866 (+2) tying with No. 9 South Carolina. The Gators gained five strokes on the Gamecocks Tuesday due in large part to the top of the lineup.
The top three of Sierra Brooks, Marta Perez and Addie Baggarly combined to go 4-under par in round three.
Brooks carded her third consecutive 70 (-2) to finish 6-under par for the week. She tied for fifth on the leaderboard as her Tuesday round was enough to pass Duke's Jaravee Boonchant.
This is the fourth time in five starts this spring that Brooks placed inside of the top five.
Perez also carded a final round of 70 (-2) to finish in a five-way tie for 12th. Perez was even thorough 15 holes but, birdies in two of her final three holes helped her to her best round of the week.
She moved up six spots to finish inside of the top 15 on the leaderboard for the third straight event.
Like Perez, Baggarly also carded her best round of the weekend posting a 72 (E) which included an eagle No. 16.
The Gators improved their score each day in Auburn, Ala. shaving four strokes off their round two total on Tuesday.
Coach's Take:
On the week as a whole -- "Happy to see us improve today but, certainly have some work to do over the next few months. Arkansas set a high bar this week and I'm excited to get home and get to work." -- Coach Emily Glaser
On today's play -- "The highlight of the day for me was seeing how Sierra, Marta and Taylor finished -- all finished under par in their last few holes. That's great to see. I'm super happy with how they stay tough all the way to the end." -- Coach Glaser
