Rising junior middle blocker Rachael Kramer reflected on the three-day USA Volleyball Tryout this past weekend
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – This tryout was exciting for our team because we had seven girls going. As you can imagine that makes the long car rides to the airport very entertaining.
With Darrielle (King) in the car you will never be bored. It was also fun playing each other in the tryout. Seeing your teammate kill a ball or serve receive a perfect pass makes you feel so proud to be their teammate.
Paige (Hammons) and I are big fans of going to the Olympic Training Center because we love the food! If we are not playing volleyball, you can catch both of us in the cafeteria eating our favorite OTC meal: meatballs for dinner, ice cream for dessert! Allie Gregory, who had never been to the OTC before, quickly became a fan of our food choices.
On the last day Thayer (Hall) and I got a chance to play in a practice headed by Karch Kiraly. It was an honor to play for a volleyball legend. However, the greatest part of this practice was playing with the best college volleyball players in the country. At this tryout, you see a lot of familiar faces of players from schools we play during season. Especially many familiar faces from the SEC. It's fun to finally play next to them, after facing them across the net all season long.
Overall, it was a very successful weekend. The Gators played great, and I think we are going back to Gainesville with a newfound confidence. Go Gators!
