No. 7 Texas Takes Down Gators
Sunday, April 1, 2018 | Women's Tennis
Florida lost 4-0 and had its five-match win streak snapped.
ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida stepped out of conference play for an opportunity to perform in front of a televised audience and against a top-10 nationally ranked opponent, as the 12th-ranked Gators squared off against No. 7 Texas and dropped a 4-0 decision at the USTA National Campus in Orlando Sunday evening.
Tennis Channel broadcast the dual match live and action began with the singles portion to accommodate its two-hour air time.
Unfortunately for the Gators, they weren't able to push past the talented Longhorn singles lineup and lost four matches in straight sets and had its five-match win streak halted.
Florida, which was playing its third match in four days, doesn't have time to dwell on Sunday's setback, as the team returns to Southeastern Conference action and faces league-leader South Carolina on Saturday in Columbia in the Gators' only match of the week.

Quotes from the Court – UF Coach Roland Thornqvist
- "Texas is one of the best teams we've played all year. They have a nice mix of ball strikers and grinders. They were tough to crack and beat us at end of sets where we have been really good as of late."
