
Gators set to defend title at Mason Rudolph

Florida wraps-up the regular season in Nashville
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- After winning the 2017 edition with a score of 30-under, the Gators are set to defend their Mason Rudolph Championship crown this weekend in Nashville.
Last year, Florida shot 13-under-par in the final round to claim the title by one stroke over Alabama with host Vanderbilt four back of the Gators at 26-under.
5-under scores from Alejandro Tosti and Gordon Neale in round three not only helped Florida win the tournament but, helped themselves move into the top 10 on the leaderboard. Neale tied for third shooting up nine spots while Tosti jumped up 11 postilions on the leaderboard to tie for seventh.
Andy Zhang also had an impressive showing as last season tying for 12th at 4-under-par for the week.
All three are in the lineup for this year's tournament playing out of the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 spots, respectively.
JC Deacon will also insert freshmen Chris Nido (No. 3) and John Axelsen (No. 4) into this week's starting five
Much like last year's final rounds, the SEC trio will be paired together with the teams starting off holes 1-3 at 9:00 a.m. (ET) in a shoutgun format.
Course Information: The tournament is being played at the Par 71, 7,100 yards at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Auburn, Ala.
Format: 72-hole stroke play where teams will play four rounds over three days. The Gators are paired with Vanderbilt and Alabama and will tee off between holes 1-3 at 9:00 a.m. (ET) in a shotgun format. Teams are scheduled to play 36-holes on Friday.
The Gators' Lineup
Neale remains a fixture at the top of the lineup after being the Gators top finisher for the third straight event. He tied for 12th at the Schenkel with a 3-under score.
Zhang posted his third straight top 25 finish at the Schenkel Invitational tying teammate Blake Dyer for 17th at 2-under-par.
Chris Nido
Nido is coming off of his two highest finishes of the season after placing 16th at the Southern Highlands and 23rd at the Schenkel Invitational.
John Axelsen
Axelsen will play out of the No. 4 position for the fourth time this year. The Denmark native has had eight of his nine rounds count when playing out of this position in the lineup.
Alejandro Tosti
Tosti returns to the lineup this week. The senior is second on the team in stroke average at 71.27 while finishing inside the top 25 in four events this season.
Also Competing
The Gator sophomore competes in his second straight tournament as an individual. He tied for 17th at the Schenkel shooting 2-under par.
