Caeleb Dressel is first Gator swimmer to earn Academic All-America honors since 2014
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A trio of Gator seniors earned 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America honors. Florida's honorees include Caeleb Dressel (swimming), Josie Kuhlman (tennis) and Alex McMurtry (gymnastics). The Collegiate of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the Academic All-America At-Large teams Thursday afternoon.
McMurtry is making her third consecutive appearance on the Academic All-America list. She is one of three women honored in 2018 to appear on the Academic All-America list each year eligible. Kuhlman claims her second consecutive Academic All-America honor and Dressel is the first Gator male swimmer to appear on the Academic All-America team since 2014.

- Won seven titles at 2017 World Championships – 50m & 100m Free, 100m Fly, 4x100m MR, 4x100m FR, Mixed 4x100m MR & 4x100m FR
- Set UF record with 10 NCAA titles during career (50 Free – four times; 100 Free – three times; 100 Fly – two times; 200-FR)
- First to break 18 seconds in 50 free (17.63) and 40 seconds in 100 free (39.90) - both at 2018 NCAAs
- 28-time All-America selection – most that can be achieved in four years. Three-time CSCAA Swimmer of the Year
- Southeastern Conference Swimmer of the Year for third consecutive year
Kuhlman in 2018:
- 211 combined career singles and doubles wins (14th-most in UF history)
- Highest collegiate ranking: No. 3 (singles) and No. 14 (doubles)
- 2018 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year
- 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 ITA Scholar-Athlete
- 2015, 2017, 2018 First team All-SEC
McMurtry in 2018:
- 2018 NCAA vault champion. Third NCAA event title of career. Led UF in 2018 with 28 event titles.
- SEC vault & bars champion; One of three in SEC history to win the five events in career and first to compete 'SECSlam' since 1999
- SEC Event Specialist of 2018. Gymnastics SEC Scholar-Athlete for second consecutive year.
- Seven All-America honors in 2018 (four earned at NCAA Championships; three in NACGC regular season awards)
- Second Gator to complete a 'GymSlam' - a 10.0 on each event. Shares every UF event record
- NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship recipient
