Super Regional Central: Gators vs. Tigers

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—Number one overall seed Florida will host the Auburn Tigers this weekend in a best-of-three Super Regional at McKethan Stadium. Earlier this season, the Gators won two of three games against the Tigers in Gainesville.

This weekend's series will feature four first-round picks from the 2018 MLB Draft. Auburn's Casey Mize was selected No. 1 overall by the Detroit Tigers while Florida's Jonathan India (No. 5 - Cincinnati Reds), Brady Singer (No. 18 - Kansas City Royals) and Jackson Kowar (No. 33 - Kansas City Royals) were all taken on day one of the draft.

It marks the first time in UF history that three players were taken in the first round in the same draft.

The Gators have reached a Super Regional for the 10th time in school history and the eighth time under head coach Kevin O'Sullivan: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
Florida is the No. 1 overall seed for the third time in program history (also 2012, 2016); no other school has been the No. 1 seed three times. The Gators have earned a national seed nine times in the last 10 seasons under head coach Kevin O'Sullivan. (more on page 3)
For just the second time in SEC history, the SEC Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year have come from the same school. Third baseman Jonathan India was named the SEC Player of the Year while right-hander Brady Singer is the SEC Pitcher of the Year.
Since taking over the Gators program prior to the 2008 season, head coach Kevin O'Sullivan is 212-117 (.644) in SEC play. LSU is second during that span with 198 wins.
Florida hit 10 home runs in four Regional games and now has 91 homers on the season, the third-most in program history (132 in 1998; 111 in 2002).

PARKING

First-come, first-serve parking will be available all weekend in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center Parking Lot and Garage.

TICKETS

Fans can purchase tickets for the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional online or at the Gator Ticket Office. Prices start as low as $6 for general admission single game tickets for the weekend.

HEAT INITIATIVES

With temperatures expected to be in the upper 80s, the UAA has arranged for several heat initiatives to help fans cool off. Misting fans will be set up on the first baseline, third baseline and behind home plate. Shade tents will also be in place down the first baseline. Free cups of ice and water will be available from stand-alone stations on the concourse.
