Nine Personal-Record Times Were Set on Day Four of Phillips 66 Nationals

Men's 400-Meter Freestyle Sends Four Athletes to Finals
IRVINE, Calif. – On the fourth day of the Phillips 66 Nationals, nine Florida athletes, past and present, set personal bests. Six qualified for finals, led by Ben Lawless and incoming freshman Trey Freeman in the 400-meter freestyle A Final.
Four men qualified for finals in the 400-meter freestyle. Incoming freshman Trey Freeman recorded a time of 3:49.90 and placed fifth in the A Final. Recent UF graduate Ben Lawless finished the A Final with a time of 3:52.01 and placed eighth overall. Gator alum, Mitch D'Arrigo posted a strong swim to win the B Final. D'Arrigo swam a 3:49.88, nearly tying a personal best. Incoming freshman Kieran Smith notched a 3:52.76 and finished in fifth, 13th overall.
After she set a personal-best time of 4:10.80 in the 400-meter freestyle prelims, Taylor Ault posted a 4:13.40 swim in the B Final of the women's 400-meter freestyle. She finished in eighth place and 16th overall.
Clark Beach closed out the night for Gator athletes as he competed in the 100-meter backstroke C Final. Beach swam a 56.56 on his way to an eighth-place finish for the C Final and 24th overall.
During the day, nine athletes collected personal-best swims. Ault, Freeman, Lawless, Smith, Beach, Robert Finke, Sherridon Dressel, Sydney Sell and Brennan Balogh earned new personal bests.
