Monday, July 9, 2018 | Track and Field
Four Gators are competing at this week's IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. Follow along to see how they're doing!
Florida's representatives in Finland are: Enzo Hodebar (men's long jump), Taylor Manson (women's 400 meters; 4x400 relay), Cory Poole (men's 110-meter hurdles; 400-meter hurdles), and Chantz Sawyers (men's 400 meters; 4x400 relay).
Manson, Poole, and Sawyers all won national U20 titles in the individual events they will compete in. By virtue of their 400 meters titles, Manson and Sawyers were added to their respective nation's relay pools.
Day 6 - Manson Anchors Team USA to Gold Medal
Manson anchored the United States' 4x400 relay team to a gold medal, keeping more than a two-second distance from Australia, the silver medalists. The Americans ran a U20 world-leading time of 3:28.74.

Day 5 - Americans Qualify for Relay Final, Jamaica DQ'd
The United States' 4x400 relay team posted the fastest qualifying time in the preliminary round, automatically qualifying for Sunday's 7:58 a.m. ET final--which Manson is expected to run, given her status as the American champion and World U20 Championships bronze medalist. Manson did not run with Saturday's qualifying team.
Sawyers saw his World U20 Championships experience cut short a day, as Jamaica's 4x400 relay team was disqualified in their preliminary race. While he was not on the disqualified team, Sawyers was expected to run the final and help Jamaica contend for a medal.
Day 4 - Sawyers Collects Gators' Second Medal
Sawyers took bronze in the men's 400 meters final, crossing in 45.89 seconds. The Jamaican champion also earned some shout-outs for an amusing photo op prior to the medal ceremony.

Poole, who finished sixth in Thursday's men's 110-meter hurdles final, was eliminated from the 400-meter hurdles semifinals by virtue of a third-place finish in his heat. His time of 51.27 seconds was not quick enough to earn one of the two time qualifiers.
Day 3 - Manson Medals, Gators Advance
Manson collected bronze in the women's 400 meters final, finishing in 52.28 seconds.

Day 2 - All-Around Success for Gators
All three Gators who competed Wednesday--Manson, Poole, and Sawyers--advanced in their events.
Poole opened the day with a runner-up finish in his heat, which automatically put him into the afternoon semifinals. Roughly seven hours later, Poole won his heat to automatically advance once again. The East Orange, N.J., native will run the final Thursday at 2:02 p.m. ET--just under 10-and-a-half hours after he runs the 400-meter hurdles preliminary.
Manson also automatically qualified for her final, easily winning her 400 meters semifinal in 53.00 seconds.
Sawyers breezed through the men's 400 meters preliminary, winning his heat with the fourth-fastest overall time of the opening round.
Day 1 - Manson Advances, Hodebar Barely Misses
Manson posted the second-fastest qualifying time in the women's 400 meters preliminary, crossing in 52.68 seconds. The East Lansing, Mich. native won her heat to secure an automatic berth for Wednesday's semifinals.
Hodebar finished 14th overall in the men's long jump qualifying, which left him out of the final by two spots. The Guadeloupe native (representing France) posted a top mark of 7.39 meters, a mere three centimeters short of the 12th-place finisher.
