Florida returns three starters from the national runner-up team a season ago, including AVCA All-American Rachael Kramer.
During the 2017 season, UF made it to its first national championship match since the 2003 campaign. The Gators went 30-2 during the year, including eight wins over ranked opponents. The 30 victories marked the 15th time in program history and the 13th time in Wise's tenure Florida has won at least 30 matches in a season.
UF went 17-1 in SEC play and earned a share of their 23rd SEC title in 2017 – the third most SEC championships by any sport, regardless of gender, since 1979.
Wise was named AVCA National Coach of the Year for the third time in her career (1992, 1996). She became just the second coach to be chosen for this honor at least three times in a career (Russ Rose, Penn State, five times).
The Gators added seven newcomers to the 2018 roster, including national Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year, Thayer Hall. Marlie Monserez and Haley Warner also both earned Gatorade VB Player of the Year in their respective states, Florida and Arkansas.
Before Florida kicks off its regular season play, the team will host Fan Day on Aug. 18. The Gators will compete in the annual Orange & Blue scrimmage, then sign autographs for fans after the match. The event kicks off at 2 p.m. and admission is free.
Single-match and season tickets are still available for the 15 home matches this season. The Gators face four NCAA qualifiers in Exactech Arena – USC, Louisville, Missouri and LSU).
