
Joseph to Compete for Team Canada in FIVB World Championships

The Gator alumna is one of 14 women who will represent Canada
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former Gator Shainah Joseph was named to Team Canada's roster for the 2018 FIVB World Championships.
The FIVB World Championships are set to start on Saturday, Sept. 29 and run through Oct. 20 in Japan.
Team Canada is in Pool B with Turkey, Italy, Cuba, China and Bulgaria. The Canadian team qualified for the World Championships after taking gold at the NORCECA Senior Women's Continental Championship in Langley, BC, in 2017.
During her senior season at Florida, Joseph earned Second Team All-America honors from both the AVCA and VolleyballMag.com. The Ottawa, Ontario native was also named All-SEC during her final season with the Gators.
As a Redshirt Senior
The FIVB World Championship has 24 countries competing, split according to the following: South America (two), Asia (five), Europe (eight), Africa (two) and NORCECA (seven). The qualifying process for the championships began back in 2016.
The teams have been divided into four pools of six teams playing in a round-robin system with the top four teams in each pool advancing to the second round. The tournament will take place across four cities, with Canada's pool B Sapporo for the first round.

- Tallied double-digit kills in 12 of Florida's final 16 matches
- Hit above .500 in seven matches in which she had at least 10 total attacks
- Notched four-plus blocks in eight matches
- Logged 15 kills and hit .317 in UF's NCAA Regional Championship win over Southern California (Dec. 9)
- Hit .320 with 11 kills in Florida's win over Stanford in the NCAA Semifinals (Dec. 14)
- Notched 19 kills and a career-high 21.5 points on a .515 clip in Florida's NCAA Tournament Second Round win over Miami (Dec. 1)
- Logged 19 kills and hit .425 in Florida's SEC title-clinching win at Missouri (Nov. 25)
- Tallied a career-high 20 kills and hit .529 with just two errors against Missouri on Senior Day (Nov. 12)
