JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men's and women's cross country teams open the 2018 season Friday (Sep. 7) evening at the University of North Florida Invitational.

The Gators, who were picked eighth on the women's side and tied for sixth on the men's side of last week's SEC Cross Country Coaches' Preseason Poll, both return significant contributors.

The women will be led by 2016 All-SEC first team selection Elisabeth Bergh, who returns after redshirting last season. Jessica Pascoe, Autumn Bartlett, Laura Jones and Caitlin McQuilkin-Bell, who all placed inside the top-10 at last season's UNF meet, return to pace the women.

For the men, Marshall Dillon returns after clocking the fastest time for the Gators last year at UNF and crossed the finish line in fifth place. Florida also returns a trio of key competitors in Jack Guyton, Colin Schaefer and Magnus Pettersen. All three runners redshirted last season, but posted top-100 finishes at the 2016 SEC Championships and NCAA South Regional Championships.
