Marckese is the first Gator goalkeeper picked in a NWSL draft
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – There was one goalkeeper picked in today's National Women's Soccer League's (NWSL) draft and it was Florida career shutouts leader Kaylan Marckese. Sky Blue FC located in Piscataway Township, N.J., made the Gator the first pick in the fourth round of the college draft held at the United Soccer Coaches convention in Chicago.
Marckese owns Florida's career records for solo shutouts (29) and complete matches played (74). A 2017 and 2018 Southeastern Conference All-Tournament selection, Marckese was TopDrawerSoccer.com National Player of the Week after setting the UF shutout record and her performance in Auburn penalty kick shootout win in the SEC Tournament first round. In the next match, Marckese turned in a clean sheet in Florida's upset of top-seeded Vanderbilt and that performance was No. 6 on SportsCenter's Oct. 31 Top 10 Plays.
