Former Gator will be honored during 2019 SEC Tournament
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Former University of Florida women's basketball standout Marshae Dotson has been named to the SEC Women's Basketball Legends Class of 2019, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.
The Southeastern Conference 2019 Class of Women's Legends showcases former student-athletes, coaches and administrators from all 14 SEC member institutions. On Monday's and Thursday's during the conference season, one individual will be highlighted on the SEC's website and via social media.
Dotson received all-league recognition in all four seasons she played with the Gators from 2005-09. She was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team in 2006, was tabbed Second-Team All-SEC as a sophomore in 2007 and finished her career with back-to-back All-SEC First Team honors as a junior and a senior, in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
The Ohio native was an efficient scorer, finishing her career shooting 55.5 percent from the field which is the second-best mark in program history, and as a senior she shot a blistering 60.3 percent from the field – which led the entire SEC and was the third-best mark in program history.
Her name is sprinkled all over the Gator record books as she is ranked No. 11 in total points with 1,529, No. 10 in rebounds with 854, No. 9 in field goals made with 598 and No. 6 in free throws made with 333. The under-sized forward led the team in rebounding in each of her final three seasons and never missed a game during her four-year career.
The class will be honored at the 2019 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament, March 6 - March 10 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C.
Each legend will be honored during half-time of their teams first game of the tournament, all 14 individuals will also be honored as a group, as well as participate in an autograph session during the tournament. Complimentary posters of the Legends will be available at the session.
