GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A pair of Gators earned Southeastern Conference weekly gymnastics awards, the league office announced this morning. Senior
Alicia Boren is the SEC Gymnast of the Week and
Trinity Thomas is the co-SEC Freshman of the Week.
Boren claims the third SEC Gymnast of the Week honor of her career and first since 2017. Thomas is a member of
Florida's top-ranked freshman class.
Boren's Performance:
- Opened season with 39.575 – equaling Florida's all-time high total in a season opener for second consecutive season. That total was top for SEC gymnast last weekend
- All-around win was 12th as a Gator
- Shared wins for vault (9.875), balance beam (9.90) and floor exercise (9.925).
- 9.925 equals the highest floor mark for a Gator in a season opener. Of the seven gymnasts on that list, Boren is the only repeat. She also opened the 2018 season with a 9.925 floor win at West Virginia.
- Her four event wins brings her one away from become 15th Gator with 40 or more career individual event titles
Thomas' Collegiate Debut:
- Runner-up in season opener at 39.475 – which is highest ever for a Gator making all-around debut in season opener
- Won uneven bars at 9.95 – second-highest bars mark for a Gator in a season opener
- Also took third on floor (9.90)
- No. 1 in the nation's bars rankings and No. T13 on floor
- Three-time U.S. Senior National Team member. Only member of current U.S. Team that is also on a 2019 collegiate roster

The nation's top dual meet of the weekend is next for the Gators as No. 3 Florida is at No. 5 Louisiana State.
That meet is set for Friday, Jan. 18 in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. It is the bookend of a SEC Network triple-header and action begins at 9 p.m. ET.
