
No. 6/8 Gators Travel to Alabama for Nationally Ranked Matchup with Auburn

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The latest College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) rankings came out on Tuesday. Both the men's and women's swimming & diving teams remained ranked inside the Top-10. Florida will be on the road this weekend for an SEC showdown with the No. 25/7 ranked Auburn Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 26.
Last time out, the Gators were at home on Jan. 4/5 against nationally ranked Kentucky and Ohio State. The UF men defeated No. 25 Kentucky 389.5-191.5 and No. 14 Ohio State 317.5-263.5. On the women's side, Florida bested No. 13 Kentucky 300.5-280.5 and No. 22 OSU 403-178.
The Florida men beat the Tigers last season, 182-114, and have won six of the last seven meetings dating back to 2011-12. Auburn's women have won the last two meetings, but the teams have split the last 14 meetings 7-7.
Khader Baqlah has the fourth-best swim in the NCAA in the 200 Free to pace the No. 6 ranked men. He's added the ninth-best time in the 500 Free and ranks 14th in the 1,000 Free. Maxime Rooney holds the nation's eighth-fastest time in the 100 Free and produced the 11th-best swim in the NCAA in the 200 Free. Kieran Smith notched the 13th-fastest times in the 200 Free and in the 400 IM. Trey Freeman swam the 17th-fastest in the 500 Free and 13th-fastest in the 1,000 Free. Robert Finke collected the NCAA's 11th-best swim in the 1,650 Free and 17th-best swim in the 1,000 Free. Grant Sanders has the country's eighth-best time in the 400 IM and 20th-fastest mark in the 200 IM.
For the No. 8 ranked women, Vanessa Pearl clocked the fifth-fastest swim in the 400 IM and in the 200 Breast, as well as the sixth-fastest time in the 200 IM. Leah Braswell is currently the sixth fastest in the 500 Free and the 1,650 Free. Mabel Zavaros holds the 11th-best time in the 200 Back and the 20th-fastest swim in the 400 IM. Emma Ball has the 14th-best time in the 100 Back. Kelly Fertel comes in with the 12th-best time in the 200 IM and eighth fastest in the 400 IM.
