Sierra Brooks placed second individually as the Florida women's golf team finished third at the Windy City Collegiate.
CHICAGO, Ill. - Senior Sierra Brooks placed second individually as the Florida women's golf team finished third with a collective 6 under performance at the Windy City Collegiate.
After a phenomenal first two rounds, Brooks seemed to struggle through Tuesday's front nine, carding two bogeys with no birdies. However, towards the end of the round, Brooks proved why she named to the Annika Award preseason watch list, ripping off four birdies through her final nine holes, to finish the day at 2 under and the tournament at 8 under overall.
Elin Esborn had a relatively clean scorecard through the final round, recording one birdie and two bogeys to finish the day at 1 over. Esborn ended the event at 2 over overall and inside the top 25 individually at tied for 25th.
Addie Baggarly posted a 3-over 75 in the last round to finish at even par and tied for 15th individually.
Marta Perez and Clara Manzalini shot 2 over and 4 over, respectively, in the last round, both finishing at 6 over and tied for 42nd on the leaderboard.

Head Coach Emily Glaser's Take
On the teams round-three performance…
"Today was a great experience and one I think we will learn a lot from. From my perspective it just looked like we got ahead of ourselves; it was a classic case of trying too hard and the harder we tried the more we got in our own way. Once we relaxed a bit we had a better finish but it was too much to overcome against some great teams."
On what the team will learn from this moving forward…
"It's not easy to sleep on the lead and there is an art to learning how to win, even on days when you don't have your best stuff like today. That's what we will try and learn from and get better at moving forward."
On Sierra Brooks' second-place finish…
"Sierra continues to find a way to get it done. Her game has been great but her biggest strength is by far her attitude. Even when she makes mistakes you don't see her pout or feel sorry, she never makes excuses. She grinds until the very end of every round of golf. It's why she is the player she is."
