Florida gets back on track with win over Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. – The 14th-ranked Gators swept the Arkansas Razorbacks on Friday evening in Barnhill arena, the team's eighth sweep of the season.
Florida took the first set 26-24, then followed with a 25-16 victory in the second set. The Gators were able to clinch the match with a 25-18 victory in the final set.
The Gators hit .245 in the match, led by 10 kills from Thayer Hall. Holly Carlton and Paige Hammons both pitched in eight on the night, while Rachael Kramer recorded seven.
Marlie Monserez dished out 31 assists in the match.
Thayer Hall led the way on the defense in the backcourt, recording 15 digs on the night. Allie Gregory added 13 and Paige Hammons notched nine.
As a squad, the Gators recorded 13.0 blocks on the night, including a career-high 12 from Lauren Dooley. Holly Carlton added nine – just one shy of tying her career-best total.
The Gators are back in action on Sunday at Texas A&M. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. on the SEC Network.

How it Happened
- The first set was a battle, with neither team holding more than a three-point lead the entire time. With the set tied 7-7, Florida utilized an 8-5 run to hold the 15-12 advantage going into the media timeout. Out of the break, the Razorbacks went on a 4-0 run of their own to take the 16-15 lead. The Gators once again gained control and held the 24-21 lead before Arkansas staved off three set points to tie it at 24-24. Florida took advantage of two Razorback errors to win the frame 26-24.
- Both teams hit .000 in the first frame, with Holly Carlton recording a team-high three kills in the set. Mia Sokolowski and Lauren Dooley added two apiece.
- Florida took the momentum from the first set victory in the second frame, winning 25-16. After trailing 0-1, the Gators went on a 4-0 run to take the lead. From that point on, UF would not trail. The Gators held as much as an 11-point lead at the 22-11 mark. Arkansas clawed its way back to within eight at 23-15, but Florida held on to go up 2-0 in the match.
- The Gators hit .455 in the second set, notching 17 kills along the way. Thayer Hall recorded five in the frame, while Paige Hammons added four of her own.
- UF and Arkansas were tied 5-5 in the third set, before Florida went on 8-2 run to hold the 13-7 advantage. The Gators continued to hold at least a four-point lead the rest of the way, clinching the frame on a Razorback service error, 25-18.
- Florida hit .297 in the final frame, led by four kills from Thayer Hall and Paige Hammons.
- Lauren Dooley has now set a new career-high in blocks in back-to-back matches, posting a personal-best 12 tonight
- Allie Gregory moved into 10th place all-time in Florida history with 1,126 digs. She surpassed Ashley Mullis (1,113) and Jane Collymore (1,125) in the match
- Thayer Hall recorded her seventh double-double of the year, recording 10 kills and 15 digs
