Florida picks up fifth-straight win

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 13 Florida volleyball team swept the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday night in Exactech Arena.
The Gators took the first set 25-18 and followed with a 25-16 win in the second set. UF clinched the match with a 25-16 win in the final frame.
Thayer Hall led Florida's offense, recording 15 kills on the night, with no errors on 36 swings. Lauren Dooley followed with seven kills, while Paige Hammons added six.
Five Gators hit over .300 in the match: Dooley (.545 | 7-1-11), Rachael Kramer (.500 | 5-1-8), Hall (.484 | 15-0-31), Mia Sokolowski (.333 | 1-0-3) and Marlie Monserez (.300 | 3-0-10).
Marlie Monserez led the Gator offense to a .391 clip, dishing out 25 assists.
Allie Gregory led the backcourt defense for Florida, posting 13 digs. Hammons added seven and Monserez pitched in six on the night.
Kramer led the Gators at the net, posting a team-high four blocks. Hall and Dooley both added three apiece as well.
Florida recorded eight service aces on the night, tying the season-best mark in a three-set match. Hammons led the way with four, while Holly Carlton pitched in two on the evening.
The Gators are back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. as the Tennessee Lady Vols come to town. The match will air on the SEC Network with Sam Ravech and Missy Whittemore on the call.

How it Happened
- Alabama took the early 4-3 lead in the first set, but the Gators battled back behind the serves of Paige Hammons to take the 9-5 advantage. From that point on, the Gators did not trail, taking as much as an eight-point lead at the 22-14 mark. The Crimson Tide fought back to within five at 22-17, but the Gators closed out on a 3-1 run to take the set.
- Florida hit a stellar .522 in the frame, registering 15 kills along the way. Thayer Hall led the way with six, while Paige Hammons added five.
- Florida jumped out quickly in the second set, holding the 12-5 advantage thanks in part to the serves of Thayer Hall. Alabama continued to battle, but the Gators took the 15-8 lead into the media timeout. Out of the break, the Gators opened a 7-3 run to take the 22-11 lead. The Crimson Tide pulled to within eight at 24-16, but a kill from Mia Sokolowski secured the set victory.
- Florida hit .375 in the second set, led by four kills from Thayer Hall. Lauren Dooley pitched in three in the frame, while three Gators each recorded one.
- Alabama was within two points of Florida at the 7-5 mark in the third frame, but behind the serves of Paige Hammons, the Gators jumped out to a six-point lead at 12-6. Florida continued to build its lead, taking an 11-point lead at 22-11. The Crimson Tide pushed back, going on a 5-2 spurt of their own, but Florida closed it out on a kill from Dooley.
- The Gators hit .325 in the final set, led by five kills from Hall. Carlton, Dooley and Kramer all added three kills in the set as well.
- Rachael Kramer is now tied for eighth place in Florida's history books in blocks with Heather Wright (424)
