Trinity Thomas & Alyssa Baumann Collect SEC Weekly Gymnastics Awards

For the second consecutive week, this Gator duo claims Southeastern Conference weekly honors. Trinity Thomas is the SEC Gymnast of the Week and Alyssa Baumann repeats as the SEC Specialist Gymnast of the Week.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A Gator duo again earned Southeastern Conference weekly gymnastics awards, the league office announced this morning. Freshman Trinity Thomas claims her second SEC Gymnast of the Week honor and sophomore All-American Alyssa Baumann is the SEC Specialist Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week.
 
The Baumann family has an additional honor to celebrate this week. Baumann's younger sister, Rachel – who competes for Georgia - is the SEC Freshman of the Week.
 
Thomas' All-Around Win:
  • Won three titles in Florida's win versus No. 12 Auburn.
  • Equaled her collegiate all-around best of 39.70 (tops among the league's all-arounders and second-highest in the nation last weekend). That all-around total ties for No. 4 in the nation for 2019.
  • Won third uneven bars title of season (9.95) and claimed floor exercise with a collegiate-best 9.975.
  • One of two Gator freshmen to earn three nearly-perfect 9.975 (the other was Bridget Sloan in 2013).
  • Ranked No. 1 in the nation on bars, No. 3 for floor, No. 5 in all-around and No. T9 in balance beam
  • Leads Florida in 2019 with nine event titles.
 
Baumann's Performance:
  • Among a three-way tie for the UF-Auburn dual balance beam win (9.90). Second consecutive beam win.
  • Now owns five beam wins during Gator career
  • Shared third in the floor exercise standings at 9.925. Last three floor scores all 9.9 or better.
  • Currently No. T-9 in the national floor exercise rankings with a season average of 9.912
  • Helped Florida post a season-best 49.65 on floor exercise versus Auburn
 
UP NEXT FOR THE GATORS:
It's Florida's third top-10 match-up of the season when they compete at No. 9 Alabama on Friday, Feb. 15. The Tide is coming off a 196.70-195.80 win at Arkansas and owns a record to 8-2 and 3-1 SEC.
 
The Gators will be back in pink this Friday as it is Alabama's 15th Annual Power of Pink meet.
