Stanko eclipsed his personal best for the second consecutive week, hurling the javelin 62.25 meters. That mark was 1.88 meters farther than his 60.37-meter throw at FSU Relays last Friday – which was a PR of 2.61 meters).
Looking to the rest of the weekend, Florida's men have won two of the last three NCAA Outdoor Championships and repeated as indoor NCAA champions three weeks ago, marking the program's ninth national title since 2010. The Gators' women are coming off a sixth-place finish at NCAA Indoors, and they finished fifth at each of the last two NCAA Outdoors. The men and women enter the week ranked fourth and 10th, respectively, in the preseason national rankings.
An additional eight men's teams and eight women's teams traveled to Gainesville ranked in the preseason top 25.
Friday and Saturday will serve as the outdoor opener in primary events for numerous Gators, including defending national champion Grant Holloway (110-meter hurdles) and reigning indoor national champion Yanis David (triple jump). Florida's nation-leading men's 4x100 relay team is expected to take the track again as well.
SEC Network +, via Watch ESPN, will provide live streaming, with Delta Timing providing results. Links to follow Pepsi Florida Relays via those mediums are listed below.
Also in Gators track and field action Friday, three members of the distance corps will chase NCAA East Preliminary qualifying times at the Raleigh Relays.
