The Gators (33-9, 6-6 SEC) enter this weekend's series with the Aggies (25-15, 3-9 SEC) after the team won a pitchers' duel with USF in a midweek contest, 1-0, at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. Cheyenne Lindsey posted the lone hit in the game for UF, while Sophia Reynoso drove in the only run of the game in the sixth inning with a SAC fly to center field.

Florida and Texas A&M squared off six times in 2018 with UF winning five of the six games and advanced to the Women's College World Series for the ninth time in program history. Jordan Matthews provided the heroics with a walk-off home run during game three of the Super Regional series.

Fans can listen to the series on WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM) as Kyle Crooks has the call. Saturday and Sunday's games will also be streamed on the SEC Network+, but Friday's game against the Aggies will not have a video stream available.

Notable Notes
  • Freshman Elizabeth Hightower was named SEC Freshman of the Week. The right-handed pitcher hurled a complete-game shutout against the nationally ranked Razorbacks, which made her only the second freshman pitcher to achieve the feat in SEC play, so far this season. She finished the game with six strikeouts and allowed only three hits and two walks. She's also the first UF freshman pitcher to achieve the feat since Kelly Barnhill against No. 2 Michigan Feb. 13, 2016.
  • The Gators hold a 12-9 record against top-25 competition this season and currently lead the nation with those 12 wins.
  • Barnhill ranks third in the nation in total strikeouts with 229 so far on the year. The Marietta, Ga. native ranks second in UF history with 1,079 career strikeouts and is fast approaching the record of 1,116 that Stacey Nelson set during her career from 2006-'09.
  • Kelly Barnhill and Amanda Lorenz were recently named as Senior CLASS Award top-10 finalists. It's the first time in program history that two Gators made the top-10 in the same season and it's only the third time in the awards history. Fans can vote for Barnhill and Lorenz daily HERE.
