Gators Stay atop the Leaderboard after Day Two of SEC Championships
Thursday, April 18, 2019 | Women's Golf
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida women's golf team has held onto their top spot through the second day of the SEC Championships.
The Gators lead the field by six strokes at nine under par. South Carolina sits in second place as the only other team under par. Juniors Marta Perez and Sierra Brooks paced Florida all day, as they each had their best rounds thus far. Perez carded a team-68 as she sits in sole possession of first place individually. Brooks finished with a 69, putting her in a tie for sixth with teammate freshman Clara Manzalini.
Sophomores Elin Esborn and Addison Baggarly sit T21 and T27, respectively. Both dropped significantly on the board after they both struggled with bogeys on the second nine holes of the day. Despite the individual slides on the leaderboard, the Gators have all five players inside the top 30, a feat they have only reached one other time this season.
Florida heads into the final round of stroke play in good position for match play, which begins Saturday with the top eight teams. The final round of stroke play begins first thing Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. (ET). The Gators tee times will begin at 10:40.
