
Florida Falls to Oklahoma State in WCWS Opener

No. 5-seed Florida fell, 2-1, to No. 13-seed Oklahoma State in the first game of the 2019 Women's College World Series Thursday at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium – OGE Energy Field.
The Gators (49-17) the Cowgirls (45-15) battled through the seven-inning game with eight combined hits between the two teams.
OSU struck first in top of the first inning with one out as Samantha Show sent UF starter Kelly Barnhill's (34-13) 0-2 pitch over the right center field wall.
With one out in the bottom of the 2nd inning, Jordan Roberts responded in-kind and evened the score 1-1 after she blasted Samantha Show's (22-8) 2-0 pitch to the exact same spot in right center field.
After Show's home run in the first, Barnhill retired 14 of the next 16 batters faced over the next four innings of play. Show broke the 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with her second home run of the day.
The Gators put two runners on in the bottom of the 7th inning, but Show shut the door on Florida. The Gators next face Alabama on Saturday in an elimination game.
