Gators Set to Defend Titles at SEC Outdoors
Wednesday, May 8, 2019 | Track and Field
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Florida made history at last year's SEC Outdoors Championships, as it swept the men's and women's team titles for the first time ever. This week, the Gators – ranked No. 4 on the men's side and No. 10 on the women's side of the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Ratings Index – are set to defend both crowns.

Florida's men also won the team title at February's SEC Indoor Championships, while a pair of individual outdoor conference champions are back for another run. That duo includes, of course, Grant Holloway. Last year, Holloway became the second man in history to win both the 110-meter hurdles and long jump titles, then ran on both of Florida's relays, totaling 23 points and tying for the meet's highest individual points scorer award.
Seniors Sharrika Barnett and Yanis David lead Florida's women. Barnett heads to Arkansas as the defending 400 meters champion, while David is coming off a sweep of the horizontal jumps titles at SEC Indoors.
Florida returns seven Gators who combined for nine top-three finishes at last year's SEC Outdoors, and that does not include its trio of relay teams – all of which medaled a year ago.
