GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 11 Florida volleyball team swept James Madison on Friday evening in Exactech Arena, taking the match 3-0.
The Gators took the first set 25-20 and followed up with a 25-11 win in the second frame. Florida then closed out the match with a 25-17 win in the third.
Florida's offense was led by Thayer Hall, who registered 10 kills on the evening. Holly Carlton added nine during the match and Paige Hammons and Marlie Monserez both pitched in six.
Monserez dished out 27 assists on the night, while Allie Gregory and Thayer Hall recorded nine digs, a team-high.
Lauren Dooley notched a career-high six blocks and Darrielle King added four of her own.
The Gators are back in action on Saturday at 5 p.m. against Long Beach State.

How it Happened
- The squads traded points through the first portion of the set, but after being tied 7-7, the Gators went on a 5-0 run on Marlie Monserez's serves. The Gators continued to hold at least a two-point lead the rest of the way and closed on the frame on back-to-back service aces by Holly Carlton.
- The Gators hit .206 in the first set and held the Dukes to a .116 hit clip. Thayer Hall led the way with five kills, while Holly Carlton pitched in three.
- The Gators held control early in the second set, taking 7-2 lead. Florida continued its hot streak in the frame by going on an 8-4 run to hold the 15-6 advantage midway through the set. UF lengthened its lead to 14 at 23-9 and closed out the frame at 25-11 to move to 2-0 in the match.
- Florida recorded a strong .455 hit clip in the second set, holding the Dukes to a .071 hitting percentage. Marlie Monserez and Holly Carlton both registered three kills in the in frame.
- Florida once again got out to a quick start in the third set, taking the 9-6 lead. JMU clawed its way back into the set and tied the frame at 15-15, but the Gators went on a 5-0 run behind the serves of Chanelle Hargreaves. The Gators continued that momentum swing, closing the match out on a 5-2 run to win 25-17 and secure the sweep.
- The Gators hit .281 in the final frame and held JMU to a .034 clip. Paige Hammons, Thayer Hall and Holly Carlton each pitched in three kills in the third set.
