Ellie Lazzari to Join 2021 Gator Gymnastics Team

Florida now has three additions for 2021 season. Joining Ellie Lazzari are Gabrielle Gallentine and Riley McCusker.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Another addition joined Florida's 2021 gymnastics class as Ellie Lazzari signed with the Gators.
Lazzari plans to complete high school classes at Wheaton North High School in three years, allowing her to enroll at the University of Florida for the fall 2020 semester.
"We are thrilled Ellie is joining the Gators a year early. She's an extremely personable young lady with a smile so infectious, you can't help but smile yourself. Ellie brings a wealth of competitive experience, grit, grace and power to our team." Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland said. "She's very strong on all four events and foresee Ellie making an immediate impact in any given lineup. Gator Nation is in for a treat to see Ellie sparkle in orange and blue!"
A strong all-arounder, balance beam is Lazzari's favorite event.

- 2019 Junior Olympics national Championships Junior F all-around, balance beam and floor exercise champion – also runner-up on uneven bars
- 2019 Region 5 Level 10 Junior F all-around, beam and vault champion
- Third in 2019 Illinois State Championships Level 10 Junior C all-around – runner-up in vault and floor, third on bars
- Qualified as a Junior International Elite in 2016, competing at 2016 American Classic, U.S. Secret Classic and 2017 U.S. Classic. Chose to return to Level 10 competition after recovering from 2018 shoulder surgery.
- Four-year member of USA Developmental Team; attended USA National Team Camp in 2016.
- Trains at Legacy Elite Gymnastics

She is the third who plans to join the Gators for the 2021 season. In November, Riley McCusker signed with the Gators. The four-time member of the U.S. Senior National Team is pursuing a spot on the 2020 U.S. Olympic roster. Earlier this month, Gabrielle Gallentine of Iron Station, N.C., announced she will complete high school studies in three years and will enroll at UF for the fall 2020 semester.
Another U.S. Senior National Team member signed with Florida in November. Morgan Hurd, the 2017 World all-around champion, is also seeking a U.S Olympic berth. She will defer UF enrollment until 2022 season as she pursues a spot on the U.S.'s 2021 World Championships team.
