GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Basketball star
Keyontae Johnson was airlifted Monday from Tallahassee to Gainesville where he remained in critical but stable condition at UF Health.
A statement from the University Athletic Association said Johnson was "following simple commands and undergoing further tests."
Johnson, the 6-foot-5, 231-pound forward and preseason Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, collapsed during a timeout early in Saturday morning's game at Florida State and spent the last two nights at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, with UF coach
Mike White, trainer and associate athletic director
Dave Werner and family members at his side.
Johnson's immediate family is with him in Gainesville and receiving help and support from UF Health, the University of Florida, his teammates and the entire athletic program. Many in the Gator Nation and beyond have reached out to offer assistance. As things become more clear, the UAA will make known any needs that he and his family might have.
The UAA, along with the Johnson family, are so thankful for the outpouring of love and support for Keyontae, as we continue to lift him up in collective thoughts and prayers. For those wanting to send letters or cards, send to PO BOX 14485 Gainesville, FL 32604 C/O UF Administration.
