Thursday, February 13, 2020 | Track and Field
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida track and field will head back to Clemson, S.C. this weekend to compete in the 2020 Tiger Paw Invitational Friday and Saturday.
The two-day meet will be the last of the 2020 indoor season for the Gators before heading to the SEC Indoor Championship later this month and the NCAA Indoor Championship next month.
Thomas Mardal, who last competed at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championship, will make his season debut on Friday. Mardal will represent the Gators during the weight throw portion of the meet. The junior thrower holds the No. 2 spot in UF's All-Time Top 10 list in that event.
The women's 400 meters will be headlined by quarter-milers Doneisha Anderson and Taylor Manson, who both hold top-10 spots in the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List. Manson, who logged a time of 52.59 seconds in Arkansas two weeks ago, ranks third in the nation. Meanwhile, Anderson holds the No. 5 spot with a 52.83-second time from her first 400-meter race of the season at this year's Gamecock Opener.
The triple jump will also be headlined by Gators ranked in the top 10 nationally.
Senior jumper Clayton Brown, who holds the No. 2 spot in the NCAA, will jump into action Saturday morning to open up day two for the Gators. He will be joined by sixth-ranked Jonathan Miller and newcomer Jalen Chance. Redshirt junior Kala Penn, who ranks seventh in the country in that event, will follow her fellow jumpers in the afternoon for the women's triple jump portion of the weekend.
Freshman Joseph Fahnbulleh, who ranks ninth nationally in the 200 meters, will represent the Gators in two separate events. The sprinter will compete in the men's 60 meters on Friday and the 200 on Saturday.
