No. 8 Gators Finish First Day of Auburn Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ten Gators represented the No. 8 University of Florida women's swimming and diving team on the first day of the Auburn Invitational at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
In total, seven season-bests and six personal-best efforts were posted in three individual events.
Bettina Boszormenyi led Florida in the 500 free with her second-place finals finish. In the prelims, she would hit a new season-best swim of 4:56.67 to post the fastest time heading into the evening session.
After setting a personal-best in the prelims, Kalie Novosedilak would go on to beat that effort and notch another new personal-best in the finals, hitting the wall in 4:59.70.
Liz Watts would improve on her morning time as well, touching in 5:08.27 and earning a 10th-place finish.
The 200 IM finals featured four Florida swimmers, as Adrianna DeBoer and Ellie Zweifel both posted new personal-best swims. DeBoer would finish in third with her effort of 2:02.89, while Zweifel posted a time of 2:04.41 and a sixth-place finish.
Madison Conway and Ellie Hatton would wrap-up UF's finishers, both setting new season-bests. Conway would finish behind Zweifel with a time of 2:05.80. Hatton hit the wall in 2:07.74, good for 11th.
The third and final event saw a trio of Gators post top-ten finals finishes, led by Kirschtine Balbuena in fourth-place with a swim of 23.23. In the prelims, she hit an effort of 23.03.
The last pair of Gators in the event was Ria Malhotra and Kelsey Dambacher. Malhotra would beat out her morning prelim time for another new best time as a Gator, touching in 23.25 to earn fifth.
Dambacher secured a seventh-place finish with her effort of 23.37, which was just .01 second slower than her season-best time from the morning.
What's Next
Day two of the Invitational begins on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. ET with the 400 IM, with finals beginning again at 6:30 p.m.
The third and final day of events will begin on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. (prelims). The last round of final swims will be pushed up to 3:00 p.m.
