GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Event wins posted by three freshmen highlighted the No. 9 University of Florida men's swimming and diving team's third and final day at the Auburn Invitational on Sunday.
Brennan Gravley (1,650 free), Ethan McCloud (200 back) and Tyler Watson (200 Fly) would increase Gator winners on the weekend to five as UF posted one victory on both Friday and Saturday.
Gravley took home the top time (15:08.68) in the 1,650 free as the freshman beat the remainder of the field by almost seven full seconds. This marks the first time competing in the distance event this season.
Drew Clark would finish behind him in second with a season-best swim of 15:15.00 and Advait Page would round out the top-three finishers with his personal-best effort of 15:25.65.
The trio all earned B-cuts for their times.
The only Gator in the event, McCloud's victory in the 200 back came after registering a new personal-best swim of 1:46.23, almost ten full seconds better than his previous best set against Florida State on Nov. 8.
Tyler Watson earned his second victory of the weekend after heading into the event final with the second-fastest time morning prelim effort. He would hit the wall 1.11 faster in the finals, posting the top time of 1:46.93, a new personal-best.
Alfonso Mestre would join Watson in the event finals, also setting a new top time as a Gator. His effort of 1:50.06 secured a third-place finish, and shaved six seconds off his prelim time.
A pair of Florida sprinters hit the water in the 100 free finals, with Lucas Kravchenko posting the best finish for UF with his fourth-place effort of 44.88. Viktor Toth would go on earn a new season-best swim in the prelim before posting a seventh-place finals finish.
Mestre would compete in the morning preliminary round, touching in 45.25.
