Pair of Gators Win Events on Final Day of Auburn Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla – Sunday marked the third and final day of swimming for the No. 8 University of Florida women's swimming and diving team at the Auburn Invitational at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
The Gators posted multiple event victories for the second consecutive day as Celi Guzman (200 back) and Ellie Zweifel (200 breast) posted the top time in their respective event final.
Guzman earned her second victory of the weekend with a time of 1:57.00 in the afternoon finals. Earlier in the day, she would hit the wall first in the prelims as well, notching a new personal-best swim of 1:56.42.
Zweifel secured her first event win on Sunday with by setting a new 200 breast lifetime-best of 2:17.17, taking off a full second from her preliminary swim, which was also the top swim in the event.
Six Gators competed in the 100 free, led by a fourth-place finals finish by Kirschtine Balbuena as the sophomore finished in 50.88. Kelsey Dambacher would tie for fifth-place, notching a time of 51.03. Ria Malhotra (7th) and Kalie Novosedliak (17th) would go on to post new personal-best swims in the finals.
Bettina Boszormenyi would also earn a personal-best in the event, hitting the wall in 51.31 in the morning session.
The final Florida swimmer in the event was Liz Watts, who registered a finals time of 52.85, good for 18th.
Madison Conway would take part in the 200 back, earning a new season-best in the prelim session with her swim of 2:02.18, .12 seconds faster than her previous best. In the finals, she would post a seventh-place finish.
Joining Zweifel in the 200 breast was Adrianna DeBoer, who secured a time of 2:21.18. She would not compete in the event final.
What's Next
Florida will now enter postseason competition, heading right back to the James E. Martin Aquatics Center on Feb. 18-22 for the 2020 SEC Championships.
Last season, the Gators' second-place finish was its best championship finish since 2011.
